I was always under the impression that you couldn't get good pho on this side of town through the west side, but Pho Hoa has changed my mind!
I recently was feeling a little hungover and dying for some good pho. Sadly my go to spot is in San Gabriel and I wasn't in the mood to drive all that way in my current condition. I quickly reached for my hand dandy yelp app and Pho Hoa popped up.
As I walked in I was a little disappointed by the lack of power their ac had. It was a bit warm inside but I sat all the way in the back where their ac unit was located and it wasn't a big deal. BONUS they gave me a huge glass of water FILLED with ice so that definitely helped as well.
Now onto the pho. I opted for the Pho Filet Mignon with the meat on the side. The bowl came out quickly and was quite flavorful. I added about four jalapeños to the broth and it came out perfectly! It was actually spicy and delicious. The meat was tender and flavorful and our waters were always filled. Oh and they give you a very generous portion of noodles. Almost too many! I had to take a few out to make room for my meat! Overall pleasantly surprised by this spot and I can't wait to go back! -

Ordered delivery to our friend's house in silver lake heading back to LA from SD cuz I wanted a light, fresh lunch. Pretty disappointing bun thit nuong cha gio | vermicelli with pork and egg rolls. It was the epitome of a sad salad, tiny portion and basically just mint, cucumber, a little lettuce and noodles. No carrots, no radish, no peanuts, no cilantro. Egg roll was not memorable either.
I ordered a rice and meat plate for the three 4- year old kids to share. It came with sausage, chicken, pork and they were fine with it. Sausage was pretty dried up, pork was fine, shrimp was good, and chicken was tender and the kids liked it the best. They also each ate a cucumber and one of the dads ate the tomato slices. It was a good serving size for the kiddos. I also ordered spring rolls and nem nuong rolls. Sadly they do not put the fried egg roll wrapper inside. I should have known better since this is not a signature item.
Anyway, the overall food was meh, price was normal, but I felt ripped off because of the paltry vermicelli. The delivery was not a good experience either because I could see on the app that the driver arrived, but he was just sitting in his car and didn't ever come up to the door. We had to go out to get the food ourselves. -

Fuck, yes.
Filet mignon pho and iced water. I can't stress how important iced water is to me.
A+ for both the broth and filet mignon. They give plenty of lime, too. I think this will have to be my go-to spot going forward for pho.
Oh yeah they have validated 1 hour parking @ Dynasty Plaza - 821 Spring Street (across the street).
I used to consider Simply Pho You my #1 pho spot, but I'm going to have to give it to Pho Hoa now. My mouth is definitely watering while writing this review. -

This afternoon seemed like the perfect opportunity to visit Pho Hoa. I haven't been here in ages, same as my hubby. We ordered the ox tail pho, pho with well done brisket and the fried egg rolls, cha gio. The egg rolls arrived real quickly and I guess I shouldn't have been surprised. I think that they'd been sitting there for a while before I'd even ordered them. They were not hot and there was no fresh oil coming from them. Still, we were hungry and so we kinda let that slide. The egg rolls were OK but would have been much better had they been fresh. The fish sauce was good, not too strong. There could have been more lettuce but that was not too big a deal.
My hubby ordered the ox tail pho. The broth was the same no matter what. The meat came in a separate bowl because it was so much. The meat was so tender. If you didn't have any teeth you'd still be able to break down the meat. It was that soft and tender. Yum. My hubby gobbled down the whole bowl of pho, noodles, meat and broth. I hadn't seen him do that in ages. It really was tasty, esp after you added some sriracha and the hoisin sauce to the mix. My hubby loved being able to pull the meat from the bones and cartilage. He enjoys that whole experience.
I, on the other hand, had a much more modest bowl of pho. The broth was good but not the heartiest I've ever had. I really liked the well done brisket. I wasn't expecting slices of meat that were so thick in comparison to what I usually get. And so, this was a real treat. The meat was so tender and quite plentiful. I love that this restaurant isn't shady with their portion of noodles, even in a regular size. It was tasty!
My lil one was with us but she was too sleepy to eat with us. There were several other kiddos in the restaurant, screaming and crying but luckily there weren't many other patrons in the restaurant. There were a few other people who came and went, all doing take out orders.
We made sure to check in on Yelp and we were pleased to find that we got a free soda with our check in. Awesome. I noticed that there was a separate drink menu but I didn't really take a look at it. I only noticed the sodas in the cooler windows.
Parking was easy for us, this time. We were lucky enough to have found a spot just one door down from the restaurant. I think it said that parking was $3.50 per hour at the meters. I think there was a sign outside that mentioned something about complimentary parking but I didn't read it close enough to figure out where this complimentary/validated parking was. I'll have to check next time. -

A great hole in the wall spot with authentic Pho! I ordered the make it your own and did 3 types of meat and ordered them rare because i dont like well done. We ordered the egg rolls and those were nice and crunch as well too! Definitely will be returning! Parking is validated across the street for an hour in the lot. easy parking- in and out!
